What Is Georgina Chapman's Net Worth?

Georgina Chapman is an accomplished English fashion designer and actress with a net worth of $30 million. She co-founded the renowned fashion label Marchesa with fellow designer Keren Craig. Chapman is also known for her previous marriage to the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. She served as a judge on "Project Runway: All Stars" (2012–2019) and has appeared in several films, including "Bride & Prejudice" (2004), "Match Point" (2005), "Factory Girl" (2006), and "The Nanny Diaries" (2007).

Early Life

Born Georgina Rose Chapman on April 14, 1976, in Hammersmith, London, England, she is the daughter of journalist Caroline Wonfor and Brian Chapman, co-owner of Percol coffee company. Georgina faced early life challenges, including femoral anteversion, a condition causing her to be pigeon-toed, and dyslexia diagnosed at age 8. She grew up in the Richmond area of southwest London and attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire. She later studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design, where she met her future business partner, Keren Craig. Georgina earned her degree from Wimbledon School of Art in 2001 and appeared in ads for Soothers throat lozenges and Head & Shoulders shampoo during her twenties.

Career

Upon graduating from Wimbledon, Georgina began working as a costume designer. In 2004, she and Keren Craig founded Marchesa, named after the Italian socialite Marchesa Luisa Casati. The fashion label quickly gained recognition, landing a spot in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund's top 10 finalists in 2006. In a testament to Marchesa's prominence, Sandra Bullock wore a Marchesa gown to accept her Oscar in 2010. Scarlett Johansson and Constance Wu also sported custom Marchesa designs to the Met Gala in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Chapman has had an active acting career, appearing in TV movies such as "Jeffrey Archer: The Truth" (2002) and "Sons & Lovers" (2003). Her first feature film was "Shanghai Knights" (2003), followed by roles in "Bride & Prejudice" (2004), "Match Point" (2005), and "The Nanny Diaries" (2007). She also guest-starred in "Rosemary & Thyme" (2004) and "Gossip Girl" (2009).

Personal Life

Georgina married film producer Harvey Weinstein on December 15, 2007, after dating for three years. They share two children: daughter India Pearl, born August 30, 2010, and son Dashiell Max Robert, born April 11, 2013. In October 2017, amidst a torrent of sexual assault allegations against Weinstein, Georgina announced their separation. She stated:

"My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority, and I ask the media for privacy at this time."

Weinstein was sentenced to over 20 years in prison in March 2020. Around the same time, it was reported that Chapman began a relationship with Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody. She maintains a close friendship with actor/director/producer David Oyelowo, whom she met when she was 18.
