Curtis graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1994 and initially aimed to study law but later switched to education. During college, she juggled jobs at IHOP and Hooters and started her own cleaning business.
Career
Nicole's journey into property restoration began in the late 1990s, focusing on homes slated for demolition. Her initial projects were in Minneapolis, Tampa, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Her real estate expertise caught the eye of the production company behind "Rehab Addict," leading to the show's premiere on October 14, 2010, on DIY Network, moving later to HGTV. The eight-season series featured 113 episodes, and Nicole stepped away in 2018, expressing burnout from the intense work schedule. She made a comeback in 2021 with "Rehab Addict Rescue," serving as the executive producer.

Personal Life
Nicole became a mother in 1996 to son Ethan, whose father Steve Cimini was in prison for DUI manslaughter at the time. A 15-year legal battle ensued between Nicole and Steve over Ethan's custody. Ethan eventually moved to California with his father. In 2015, Nicole had another son, Harper, with Shane Maguire, leading to another custody dispute. Eventually, they agreed to share equal responsibility for Harper.
In 2018, Nicole started dating Ryan Sawtelle, founder of the White Heart Foundation. She encountered legal issues in 2016 when her mother sought a restraining order against her, which was denied. In 2017, Nicole bought a Detroit home that turned out to be owned by the Detroit Land Bank Authority, leading to a legal battle for reimbursement or ownership.
