In the 1999 NBA Draft, Brand was selected first overall by the Chicago Bulls. Averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in his rookie year earned him the Co-Rookie of the Year title alongside Steve Francis. Despite personal success, the Bulls struggled, leading to Brand's trade to the Los Angeles Clippers in his second season.
