Early Life
LiAngelo Robert Ball was born on November 24, 1998, in Anaheim, California, to LaVar Ball and Tina Ball. Both of his parents were former college basketball players. LiAngelo often competed against older opponents and his brothers, Lonzo and LaMelo. He attended Chino Hills High School, where he played basketball for four years, gaining national attention alongside his brothers, partly due to their father LaVar's rise as a media personality in 2017. Originally slated to play for UCLA, LiAngelo was involved in a controversy for allegedly stealing sunglasses in China, leading to his departure from the college.
Basketball Career
Standing at 6-foot-5, LiAngelo Ball has played as both a guard and small forward. After leaving UCLA, he signed with Prienai of the Lithuanian Basketball League. Later, he joined the Los Angeles Ballers in the Junior Basketball Association, winning the JBA championship and earning titles like JBA Finals MVP, All-Star, and All-Star Game Co-MVP in 2018. In 2020, he joined the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League. Although he signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Detroit Pistons, he was waived before the beginning of the 2020-2021 season. In the summer of 2021, he trained with his brother LaMelo's team, the Charlotte Hornets, earning a place on their Summer League team. He impressed by making five three-pointers in just 16 minutes during his debut. In October 2021, he was briefly signed by the Hornets but was waived the following day. Selected 14th overall by the Greensboro Swarm in the 2021 NBA G League draft, LiAngelo scored 22 points in his debut. He again participated in the 2022 NBA Summer League with the Hornets and signed a non-guaranteed contract in September 2022, but was waived in October. He rejoined Greensboro Swarm's training camp.
