What is Andrew Bynum's Net Worth?

Andrew Bynum is an American professional basketball player with a net worth of $35 million. His fortune primarily stems from a prolific NBA career, most notably with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he achieved All-Star status and won NBA championships.

Early Life

Andrew Bynum was born on October 27, 1987, in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey. After his parents separated when he was one year old, he and his older brother spent summers in North Carolina with their father. Bynum attended multiple high schools, eventually settling at St. Joseph High School for his junior and senior years. He played in the 2005 McDonald's All-American game and earned recognition as a McDonald's All-American and third-team "Parade" All-American. Opting to defer entrance to the University of Connecticut, Bynum entered the NBA Draft instead.

NBA Career

In the 2005 NBA Draft, Bynum was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 10th overall pick, becoming the youngest player ever drafted and to play in the NBA at just 17 years old. He showed promise as a rookie and continued to improve over the next four seasons.

The Lakers won the 2009 NBA Finals against the Orlando Magic, with Bynum averaging 19 minutes per game, followed by the 2010 Finals victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, despite ongoing knee issues. A flagrant foul during the 2011 playoffs led to his suspension and a $25,000 fine. However, in 2012, Bynum made the NBA All-Star team and the All-NBA Second Team.

In August 2012, Bynum was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in a four-team deal involving Dwight Howard and Andre Iguodala. Unfortunately, knee surgery prevented him from playing a single game for the 76ers.

In 2013, Bynum signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers but faced struggles, resulting in his indefinite suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. The Cavaliers traded him to the Chicago Bulls for Luol Deng in January 2014. Bynum then joined the Indiana Pacers, appearing in only two games before knee issues forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Contracts & Earnings

In October 2008, Bynum signed a four-year, $57.2 million extension with the Lakers, averaging $14.3 million per year. His contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013 was a two-year, incentive-laden deal worth up to $24.8 million. Bynum also signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Indiana Pacers in 2014. Throughout his NBA career, Bynum earned over $70 million.
