He attended Lee High School and, after graduating in 2000, studied Dance Performance at Southern Union State Community College. Later, he transferred to Chapman University in California.
Career
Stephen's career took off in 2003 when he was the runner-up on "Star Search" and placed third on "The Wade Robson Project." In 2007, he appeared in "Blades of Glory" as a flamboyant dancer, in "Hairspray" as a Maybelle Store Dancer, and auditioned for season three of "So You Think You Can Dance." Although he didn't make it far initially, he finished as the runner-up in the 2008 season. A memorable dance with Katee Shean to Duffy's song "Mercy" earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Choreography.
Stephen returned to "So You Think You Can Dance" as an "All Star" in later seasons and served as Team Captain for "Team Street" in season 12.
