What is Jessi Colter's Net Worth?
Jessi Colter is an American country music artist who has a net worth of $5 million. Best known for her collaboration with her husband, Waylon Jennings, on the 1975 hit song "I'm Not Lisa", Colter is one of the few female artists to emerge from the outlaw country movement.
Early Life and Early Career
Born Mirriam Johnson on May 25, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona, Colter began playing the piano at her church at the age of 11. After graduating from high school in 1961, she started performing in local clubs.
In 1961, Colter married guitarist Duane Eddy and released two singles under the name Mirriam Eddy. Despite their efforts, the singles failed, leading Colter to take a nearly decade-long hiatus from recording.
In 1968, she met Waylon Jennings, who recognized her talent and helped her secure a recording contract with RCA Victor. They married shortly thereafter.
Music Career
Adopting the stage name Jessi Colter, she relaunched her career in 1970. Alongside Jennings, she recorded several duets, two of which made it to the Top 40 Country Chart. On March 25, 1970, Colter played the keyboard for Jennings during his appearance on "The Johnny Cash Show".
Colter released her debut album, "A Country Star is Born," in 1970, co-produced by Jennings and Chet Atkins. In 1975, she signed with Capitol Records and released her breakout single, "I'm Not Lisa," which topped the Billboard Country Chart and reached No. 4 on the Billboard Pop Chart.
Her second album, "I'm Jessi Colter," was released the same year, reaching No. 1 on the Cashbox Top Country Albums chart. The single "What's Happened to Blue Eyes" from the album also achieved significant success, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Country Chart.
In 1976, Colter released two more albums, "Jessi" and "Diamond in the Rough," both of which peaked at No. 4 on the Top Country Albums Chart. By this time, she was recognized for her soulful style rather than traditional honky-tonk country music. She toured with Jennings until the 1980s.

Colter's memoir, "An Outlaw and a Lady: A Memoir of Music, Life with Waylon, and the Faith That Brought Me Home," was published on April 11, 2017. Her twelfth solo album, "Edge of Forever," produced by Margo Price and mixed by her son Shooter, was released on October 27, 2023.
