Early Life and High School
Born on New Year's Eve, 1987, in Atlanta, Georgia, Javaris Crittenton attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy for high school. He played alongside future NBA star Dwight Howard and led the team to a GHSA class A state championship in 2004. The following year, they made it to the finals but lost. In 2006, as a senior, Crittenton once again helped the team secure the state championship and was named a McDonald's All-American.
Collegiate Career
Crittenton attended Georgia Tech University, playing the 2006-2007 season with the Yellow Jackets. He excelled and was regarded as a team leader, scoring a career-high 29 points in a game against Florida State in February.
Los Angeles Lakers
Crittenton left college after one season to enter the 2007 NBA Draft and was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 22 games, he averaged 3.3 points per game before being traded in February 2008.
