Early Life

Born as Brooke Lisa Burke on September 8, 1971, in Hartford, Connecticut, she was raised in Tucson, Arizona, by her mother and stepfather after her father left the family when Brooke was just two years old. Winning her first beauty pageant at age 14, she later traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona, to audition for a modeling agency, landing a talent agent quickly.

Brooke attended both Sahuaro High School and Palo Verde High School, where she was crowned homecoming queen in 1989. By the age of 18, she was a busy print model, appearing in swimsuit calendars, billboards, and magazine covers. Encouraged by friends, she moved to Los Angeles to study broadcast journalism at UCLA.

Career

While still studying in Los Angeles, Brooke's career flourished, signing with major modeling agencies like Ford and Wilhelmina. She appeared in popular ads, swimsuit editorials, posters, and commercials. Her national exposure began in the early '90s modeling lingerie for Frederick's of Hollywood.

Brooke's breakthrough came as the host of "Wild On," an adrenaline-packed reality show on E! Entertainment that aired from 1999 to 2002. During this period, she reached more than 400 million homes in 120 countries, propelling her to celebrity status. She appeared in various television shows, including "The Bernie Mac Show" (2001), "Monk" (2002), and "Less Than Perfect" (2002).

In 2008, Brooke won "Dancing with the Stars" with her partner Derek Hough, defeating Super Bowl champion Warren Sapp and his partner Kym Johnson. In 2010, she became a co-host on the show alongside Tom Bergeron but was replaced in February 2014 before season 18.

Brooke ventured into entrepreneurship by starting Baboosh Baby in 2007, offering wraps for pregnant women. She hosted various shows, including NBC's Golden Globes pre-show in 2009 and TV Land's "She's Got the Look" in 2010. Hosting the Miss America pageant from 2011 to 2013, she returned in 2016. Brooke participated in "The New Celebrity Apprentice," finishing in third place. Her first book, "The Naked Mom," was published in 2011.

Brooke was also the voice and face of Rachel Teller in the video game "Need for Speed: Underground 2" and voiced questions in "Trivial Pursuit Unhinged." She featured in infomercials for Gunnar Peterson's Core Secrets and appeared in commercials for brands like Discover Card, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, and Skechers. Since January 2020, she co-hosts the podcast "Intimate Knowledge" with Meghan King Edmonds and Lila Darville.

Their divorce was finalized in March 2020, with a 50/50 custody agreement for their children and division of assets. In March 1998, Brooke’s former husband David Charvet paid $1.275 million for five parcels of land in Malibu's Serra Retreat neighborhood.
