Austin Carr is an American retired professional basketball player who has a net worth of $3 million. Born in Washington, D.C., in March 1948, Carr stands 6'4″ tall and played as a guard during his basketball career.
Carr attended Mackin Catholic High School before moving on to the University of Notre Dame. His college career was stellar, earning him a Consensus second team All-American title in 1970. In 1971, he became a Consensus first team All-American and was honored with several prestigious awards, including the Naismith College Player of the Year, Associated Press Player of the Year, Helms Foundation Player of the Year, and UPI Player of the Year.
Drafted as the #1 overall pick in the 1971 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Carr played for the team from 1971 to 1980. His remarkable performance earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1971 and an NBA All-Star title in 1974. Carr later played for the Dallas Mavericks in 1980 and the Washington Bullets from 1980 to 1981.
In 1980, Carr was awarded the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. His contributions to the Cavaliers were immortalized when his #34 jersey was retired by the team.
