Career

Afroman began his music journey in middle school by writing his first song, "Hairy Carrie," addressing a bully. During his eighth grade, he recorded songs and sold tapes to classmates. Reflecting on that time, Afroman shared, "Even though I wasn't at school, my song was at school." His debut album, "My Fro-losophy," came out in 1998, leading him to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he met producer Tim Ramenofsky and other musicians. His album "Because I Got High" released in 2000, garnered international success with the title track reaching Platinum status in multiple countries.

In 2001, Afroman released "The Good Times" under Universal Records, achieving Gold status. Personal Life

In 2003, Afroman embraced Christianity, claiming, "I gave my life to God." He later released a YouTube sermon, "How To Be Happy In An Unhappy World." In February 2015, he faced legal issues after punching a woman on stage, resulting in assault charges and mandatory anger management classes. He publicly apologized and settled the lawsuit for $65,000.

In August 2022, Afroman's home was raided on suspicion of drug trafficking and kidnapping. Despite finding no substantial evidence, authorities caused significant property damage and confiscated over $5,000, returning only $4,600. Afroman created three songs about the incident, featuring security footage from the raid, leading to a privacy lawsuit by the officers involved.
