Tichina Rolanda Arnold was born on June 28, 1969, in Queens, New York City. Raised in a middle-class family and the Church of God in Christ, her mother worked in sanitation and her father was a police officer. Arnold attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. She began her career in performance early, singing in church from age four and landing a part in the play "The Me Nobody Knows" at age eight.

Career

Arnold's film debut was in Frank Oz's "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986), where she appeared as one of the chorus girls alongside her future co-star Tisha Campbell. Her television break came with the role of Zena Brown in "Ryan's Hope" (1987-1989), for which she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination.

Arnold's defining television role was as Pamela James on "Martin" (1992-1997), co-starring Thomas Mikal Ford and Carl Anthony Payne II. She also appeared in single episodes of "The Jamie Foxx Show" (1998), "The Norm Show" (1999), and "Pacific Blue" (1999).

From 2001 to 2005, she had a recurring role on "One on One". Arnold played Rochelle in "Everybody Hates Chris" from 2005 to 2009, and took main roles in "Happily Divorced" (2011-2013), "Survivor's Remorse" (2014-2017), and "The Neighborhood" (2018-present). Arnold's film career includes roles in "Scenes from a Mall" (1991), "Fakin' Da Funk" (1997), "Dancing in September" (2000), "Civil Brand" (2002), and "Drillbit Taylor" (2008). Arnold reunited with Martin Lawrence in "Big Momma's House" (2000) and "Wild Hogs" (2007), proving her versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles.
