Early Life

Paxton "Terry" Bradshaw was born on September 2, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Raised with two brothers by his mother and US Navy veteran father, Bradshaw dreamed of becoming a professional football player. He attended Louisiana Tech University, where he became the starting quarterback after Phil "Roxie" Robertson left football to create Duck Commander, later appearing on "Duck Dynasty."

Football Career

Bradshaw's professional journey began when the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him during the 1970 NFL Draft. As the starting quarterback in his second season, he led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships and four Super Bowl titles. Among his notable achievements was the "Immaculate Reception" pass against the Raiders in 1972. Despite battling a persistent elbow injury that required cortisone shots before games, Bradshaw remained a formidable player, earning the Most Valuable Player title in 1978. He retired after a significant elbow injury in 1983.

Acting Career

Even during his football career, Bradshaw showcased his acting talents in TV commercials, including a famous ad for shingles treatment and Tide detergent. He made cameo appearances in shows like "Brotherly Love," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Married… With Children," "Modern Family," "The Larry Sanders Show," and "The League," along with a minor role in "Malcolm in the Middle." Bradshaw hosted "Home Team with Terry Bradshaw," and later starred in movies like "Hooper," "The Cannonball Run," "Smokey and the Bandit II," and "Failure to Launch." Relationships

Bradshaw's first marriage was to Miss Teen America 1969, Melissa Babish, which lasted from 1972 to 1973. He then married JoJo Starbuck in 1976, separating in 1983. His third marriage to Charla Hopkins resulted in two children before they divorced in 1999. In 2014, Bradshaw married his longtime girlfriend, Tammy.

Health

Post-retirement, Bradshaw revealed he struggled with mental health issues during his career, including crying spells, weight loss, insomnia, and anxiety attacks. These worsened after his third divorce. By speaking out, he hopes to reduce the stigma around depression. His anxiety prevented him from attending Steelers games and even the funeral of team founder Art Rooney. He returned to the sideline in 2002. In September 2022, he revealed his treatment for bladder and neck cancer between 2021 and 2022.

Real Estate

Bradshaw invested heavily in real estate post-retirement. Just before the 2008 real estate crash, he sold $13 million worth of properties in Texas, Oklahoma, and Mexico, suffering a $900,000 loss. His financial advisor later praised this decision. In 2016, Bradshaw sold a 12-acre Hawaiian estate for $2.7 million. He listed his 744-acre ranch in Oklahoma for $10.8 million in 2014 and sold it in late 2023. In 2019, he sold a property in Jacksonville for $1.6 million and another in Bradenton for $1.4 million in 2020.

Flipping Planes

Bradshaw also revealed he earns money by flipping planes, similar to house flipping. He buys planes for $4 or $5 million, uses them for business, and sells them for a profit.
