His family was also involved in the Chicago Gospel music scene, and Campbell attended Christian Youth M.B. of Chicago. It was there that he first performed on the drums at the age of four.
Career

These performances became a tradition, leading to an annual concert series called "Take Me Back Night." The group generally consists of eight members, including Campbell, who performs as the lead vocalist.
Though the group was formed in 2000, they did not release their debut studio album until April 2005. The album, "The Soul Seekers," charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, peaking at number 37. The group won the 2006 Stellar Award for Quartet Group of the Year. In 2010, they released their second studio album, "Soul Seekers II," which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart and number 12 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, receiving favorable reviews from Gospel music critics.
