Robin Antin is an accomplished American dancer, choreographer, and music video director with a net worth of $8 million. She is notably recognized for founding the girl group the Pussycat Dolls and spearheading its expansive media franchise. Beyond this, she has created other successful girl groups such as the Paradiso Girls, Girlicious, and G.R.L. Antin’s choreography portfolio includes work with well-known musical artists like Paris Hilton, Pink, and No Doubt.
Early Life
Born on July 6, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, Robin Antin is the daughter of British Jewish immigrants. She grew up with three brothers: Jonathan, Steve, and Neil. Jonathan Antin is a prominent celebrity hairstylist, Steve pursued directing, and Neil is an actor.
The Pussycat Dolls
Antin founded the Pussycat Dolls in 1995, initially as a modern burlesque dance troupe that performed popular 1950s and 1960s music standards in retro pinup costumes. The group’s early success included a residency at the Viper Room in Los Angeles until 2001. With the encouragement of record executive Jimmy Iovine, Antin transitioned the group to a mainstream pop act in 2003 under Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Featuring members Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, Melody Thornton, and Ashley Roberts, the group released its debut single, "Sway," in 2004, followed by the hit album "PCD" in 2005. Despite their commercial success, internal conflicts led to their disbandment in 2010.
Antin expanded the Pussycat Dolls brand beyond music, introducing fashion merchandise, product endorsements, reality TV shows, and themed venues like the Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon in Las Vegas and the Pussycat Doll Dollhouse in San Diego. Various performers have been part of these venues, including Jamie Preston, Hayley Zelniker, and others.
The Paradiso Girls
In 2007, Antin established the Paradiso Girls, a diversified global version of the Pussycat Dolls with members from different countries, including the US, UK, France, and the Philippines. Despite the release of singles like "Patron Tequila" and "Who's My Bitch," the group disbanded due to poor commercial results.
Girlicious
Derived from the 2008 reality show "Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious," Antin formed Girlicious, consisting initially of Nichole Cordova, Chrystina Sayers, Tiffanie Anderson, and Natalie Mejia. Their debut album saw success, but the group disbanded eventually in 2010.
G.R.L.
Antin found considerable success with G.R.L., formed in 2012. The group included Lauren Bennett, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle, Paula van Oppen, and Emmalyn Estrada. G.R.L.'s rise included international recognition for their collaboration with Pitbull on "Wild Wild Love." Tragically, Battle’s suicide in 2014 led to their temporary disbandment. They reformed in 2016 with new member Jazzy Mejia.
The Dirty Virgins
Inspired by the Pussycat Dolls, Antin created the Dirty Virgins, a Las Vegas-based female dance troupe. Members include Emily Istre, Amber William, Monteece Mask, and Tala Marie.
