Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz, known as Rauw Alejandro, was born on January 10, 1993, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is the son of guitarist Raúl Ocasio and backing vocalist María Nelly Ruiz, growing up in Carolina and Canóvanas. Alejandro spent time in New York City and Miami with his father. He shares a long-standing friendship with award-winning rapper Anuel AA, who featured on his tracks "Reloj" and "Elegí (remix)" from Rauw's debut album. Alejandro's early years showcased his talents in school talent shows, primarily his dancing prowess. Following his high school graduation, he attended the University of Puerto Rico.
