Ralph Baer, often revered as 'The Father of Video Games,' was a German-American video game developer, engineer, and inventor, whose net worth was estimated at $5 million. Born in Rodalben, Palatinate, Germany, in March 1922, Baer and his family emigrated to America before the onset of World War II. He participated in the American war effort, after which he turned his focus to electronics. Through his ingenuity, Baer conceived the pioneering idea of playing games on a TV screen and subsequently developed and patented the first home video game system, the Magnavox Odyssey.
