Early Life and Education

Noel Biderman was born in 1971 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, into a Jewish family with Holocaust survivor grandparents. He attended York Mills Collegiate Institute during his teenage years and later pursued economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Subsequently, he returned to Canada and graduated from York University's Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996.

Career Beginnings

Biderman started his career as a lawyer and sports agent. In 1997, he joined Interperformances Inc. and became the director of Canadian operations, representing over 40 professional athletes worldwide, including NBA and NFL players.

First Internet Companies

Entering the online space during the dot-com era, Biderman joined the online real estate company Homestore (later Move) in 2000 and rose to become the general manager of Canadian operations. By late 2005, he transitioned to the Canadian Internet television carrier JumpTV, taking on the role of head of product development and marketing.

Ashley Madison

In 2007, Biderman was appointed CEO of Avid Life Media and its controversial dating service Ashley Madison, which facilitates extramarital affairs. Despite heavy criticism, Biderman defended the platform, claiming it merely provided an avenue for people who would cheat regardless. In 2015, following a major data breach that exposed millions of users' information and his own emails, Biderman resigned as CEO.

Sports Coaching

A former athlete himself in basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, and hockey, Biderman became a youth coach for the Metro Toronto Wildcats TAP program in 2012. The following year, he began coaching the North Toronto Huskies basketball team.
