Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was born on July 27, 1970, in Rudkobing, Denmark to librarian Hanne Coster and Jorgen Oscar Fritzer Waldau. From 1989 to 1993, he studied at the Danish National School of Theater and Contemporary Dance, making his stage debut as Laertes in "Hamlet."
