What is Milton Bradley's Net Worth and Salary?

Milton Bradley is a former professional baseball outfielder with a net worth of $18 million. During his career spanning from 2000 to 2011, he played for multiple MLB teams including the Montreal Expos, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and Chicago Cubs. His best season was in 2008 with the Rangers, where he led the American League with a .436 on-base percentage and earned his first All-Star selection. Bradley earned $48 million during his career, primarily from a three-year, $30 million deal with the Cubs in 2009. However, his career was marred by instances of bad temper and behavior.

Early Life and Education

Born on April 15, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, Milton Bradley Jr. grew up in a challenging environment. His father, a Vietnam War veteran, struggled with addiction and abusive behavior. Bradley attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he excelled in baseball. Although he planned to attend California State University, Long Beach, he entered MLB when he was drafted in 1996.

Minor League Career, 1996-2000

Bradley was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 1996 MLB June amateur draft. He started his professional career with the Gulf Coast League's GCL Expos, batting .241 in his first season. He then moved through several minor league teams, including the Vermont Expos, Cape Fear Crocs, Jupiter Hammerheads, Harrisburg Senators, and Ottawa Lynx.

Montreal Expos

Bradley made his MLB debut in July 2000 with the Expos. In his first season, he batted .221 with 15 RBI in 42 games. He played 67 games with the Expos in 2001 before being traded.

Cleveland Indians

Bradley was traded to the Cleveland Indians in July 2001 and assigned to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. In 2002, despite injuries, he finished the season with a .249 batting average, 38 RBI, and nine home runs. In 2003, he led the Indians in stolen bases. However, his temper issues continued, leading to another trade in 2004.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Bradley's first season with the Dodgers in 2004 was turbulent. He faced multiple ejections and suspensions due to his on-field behavior. Despite attending anger management counseling, he continued to have conflicts and missed the remainder of the 2005 season due to injuries.

Oakland Athletics

In late 2005, Bradley was traded to the Oakland Athletics. He had a strong first season, batting .276 with 52 RBI and hitting home runs from both sides of the plate in the 2006 ALCS. However, his time with the A's was short as he was designated for assignment and traded to the San Diego Padres in 2007.

San Diego Padres

Bradley's tenure with the Padres began on the disabled list. In September, he tore his right ACL during an altercation with an umpire, missing the end of the season.

Texas Rangers

Bradley signed a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers for the 2008 season. He led the American League in on-base percentage (.436) and on-base plus slugging percentage (.999), earning his first All-Star Game selection.

Chicago Cubs

In early 2009, Bradley signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Cubs but only played one season due to multiple altercations and suspensions. He finished with a .257 batting average, 40 RBI, and 12 home runs.

Domestic Violence Conviction and Imprisonment

Bradley was first married to Monique Williams in 2003. In 2011, he was arrested for threatening her, and in 2013, he was convicted of multiple domestic violence incidents. He received a 32-month prison sentence and was later released pending appeal. Monique passed away in 2013.

Second Domestic Violence Charge

Bradley married his second wife, Rachel, after his release. In 2018, he was once again charged with spousal battery and sentenced to 36 months of probation with mandatory counseling.
