Mayim Chaya Bialik was born on December 12, 1975, in San Diego, California, to Barry and Beverly. Her family are Jewish immigrants. Raised in Reform Judaism, Mayim later identified herself as an "aspiring Modern Orthodox." She graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1993. Bialik attended UCLA, deferred due to acting commitments, and graduated with a B.S. in neuroscience, with minors in Hebrew and Jewish studies. She paused her Ph.D. studies in 2005 to return to acting, eventually completing her doctorate in 2007.

Acting Career

Bialik debuted in the 1988 horror film "Pumpkinhead," and appeared in "Beaches" the same year. She had guest roles on TV shows such as "The Facts of Life," "Webster," "Empty Nest," "MacGyver," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," and "Murphy Brown." In 1990, she was cast as Blossom Russo in "Blossom," which aired for 114 episodes. Post-"Blossom," Bialik lent her voice to animated projects like "Hey Arnold!," "Extreme Ghostbusters," and "Kim Possible." She made guest appearances on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Fat Actress," "Bones," and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." She co-authored "Mayim's Vegan Table" with pediatrician Jay Gordon in 2014. Personal Life

Mayim met Michael Stone at UCLA, and he converted to Judaism before they married on August 31, 2003. They have two sons, Miles and Frederick. The couple divorced in 2013. Bialik supports attachment parenting and was named a celebrity spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network in 2009. She is a Zionist, feminist, and vegan, and co-founded the Shamayim V'Aretz Institute, a Jewish nonprofit promoting veganism and animal advocacy. She co-owned the Los Angeles vegan restaurant Bodhi Bowl, which closed in 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2015, Mayim launched the website Grok Nation for discussing contemporary issues.
