Start of Formula One Career and World Sportscar Champion
In 1984, Brundle's talent was recognized with an entry into Formula One. Racing with the Tyrrell Racing Organisation, he finished fifth in his debut race in Brazil and clinched second place in Detroit. However, a severe crash during practice at the Dallas Grand Prix left him with broken ankles and feet, forcing a season hiatus. Though he recuperated, the injuries left him with permanent impairments, affecting his braking technique. In 1994, Brundle joined McLaren, surviving a near-disastrous accident with Jos Verstappen in his first race. Nonetheless, he delivered solid performances, including a second-place finish at Monaco.
In 1995, during his time back at Ligier, Brundle secured a fourth-place finish at Magny-Cours and a podium at Spa. The following year, partnering with Rubens Barrichello at Jordan, he concluded a solid season with a fifth-place finish at the Japanese Grand Prix.
