What Is Marc Bulger's Net Worth?

Marc Bulger, a retired American football player, has an estimated net worth of $20 million. Bulger's NFL career spanned 11 seasons, predominantly with the St. Louis Rams, but also included stints with the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Baltimore Ravens.

Career Earnings

Throughout his NFL tenure, Bulger accumulated approximately $55 million in total salary. Noteworthy contracts include a four-year, $19.1 million extension in 2003, and a six-year, $62.5 million deal in 2007, the latter of which he retired before completing. His earnings also comprised performance incentives, signing bonuses, and additional compensation from various teams.

Early Life

Born Marc Robert Bulger on April 5, 1977, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he attended Sacred Heart Middle School and Central Catholic High School. He received a football scholarship to West Virginia University, where he majored in sports management. Marc hails from a family of collegiate athletes: his father and brother attended Notre Dame, while both his sisters played basketball at the collegiate level.

Career

Post-college, Bulger was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft as the 168th overall pick. He was among six quarterbacks selected before Tom Brady. After brief periods on the practice squads of the Saints, Falcons, and Rams, he re-signed with the Rams in January 2001 and stayed inactive throughout his first season.

In 2002, amidst a poor start for the Rams and injuries to key players, Bulger took over as quarterback, ending the season with a 6-0 record in completed games. Although he suffered an injury against the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams concluded the season at 7-9.

Entering 2003 as Warner's backup, Bulger became the primary quarterback after Warner's concussion in the season opener. That season, Bulger led the Rams to a 12-4 record and the NFC West title, although they fell to the Carolina Panthers in a double-overtime playoff game. Bulger earned Pro Bowl MVP honors that year.

In 2004, Bulger secured his position as the Rams' starting quarterback with a new four-year, nearly $20 million contract. The Rams had an 8-8 season, earning the wild card spot but falling to the Atlanta Falcons in the playoffs. Bulger's 2005 season was hampered by injuries to his right shoulder. Nonetheless, he achieved a milestone in 2006 by reaching 1,000 completions in just 45 games. He subsequently signed a six-year, $62.5 million contract with the Rams in 2007, but recurring injuries plagued him and the team, resulting in a 3-13 season.

Bulger's 2008 season started poorly, with the team going 0-3 and Bulger briefly losing his starting role to Trent Green. In 2009, he was sidelined with injuries, and the Rams posted a franchise-worst 1-15 record. Bulger requested his release in 2010 and later signed a one-year, nearly $4 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens, but did not play. On August 2, 2011, he retired from professional football.

Marc Bulger is married to Mavis Armbruster, and they have two daughters. The family resides in Brentwood, Tennessee. Post-retirement, Bulger took up curling, participating in the 2018 Curl Mesabi Classic and playing on a team with John Benton and former football player Jared Allen.
