Manuel Negrete began his professional career in 1979, joining UNAM Pumas as a midfielder. In 1986, he moved to Sporting CP and subsequently joined Sporting de Gijon in 1987. His return to UNAM Pumas between 1987 and 1990 saw him add another 39 goals in 117 appearances.
Later Playing Career
From 1990 to 1991, Negrete played for CF Monterrey before returning to UNAM Pumas for another year, during which he scored 11 goals in 38 matches. He then played for Atlante F.C. in the 1992-1993 season and later for Toros Neza from 1993 to 1994.
