Career

Kenny was the second overall pick by the New Jersey Nets in the 1991 NBA draft. His rookie season saw the Nets advance to the playoffs, and his scoring average doubled in his second year. By his third season, he averaged 18 points per game and earned a spot in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game alongside Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley.

After his time with the Nets, Kenny played for several teams, including the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors, and Boston Celtics. Notably, he helped the Celtics reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002. He briefly played overseas in Lithuania before retiring in 2005.

Despite his significant earnings, Kenny filed for bankruptcy in 2003, citing financial difficulties and personal struggles, including being sexually abused by a coach in his youth. His life story was documented in the 2017 film "Mr. Chibbs." In 2018, he became the head coach of the men's basketball team at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.
