What is Joe Buck's Net Worth and Salary?

Joe Buck is an American sportscaster with a net worth of $35 million. He has predominantly worked with Fox Sports as a play-by-play announcer for NFL and MLB games. Buck is Fox's preferred choice for the World Series, having announced all but two since 1996. He's the son of legendary sportscaster Jack Buck.

Early Life

Joseph Francis Buck was born on April 25, 1969, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Joe was introduced to the world of sportscasting early, watching his father work with the St. Louis Cardinals. The family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where Buck attended school. He later attended Indiana University Bloomington.

Career

Joe began his sportscasting career in the late 80s with the Louisville Redbirds, a minor league affiliate of the Cardinals. In 1989, he worked with ESPN, covering the Triple-A All-Star Game. By the early 90s, Buck was reporting for a CBS affiliate. He also announced for the Cardinals on KMOX Radio, often filling in for his father.

In 1994, Buck joined Fox Sports, marking a significant turning point in his career. He quickly became the youngest announcer of regular National Football League games. In 1996, he became Fox’s lead play-by-play announcer for MLB games, partnering with Tim McCarver. Over his career, Joe has announced 21 World Series games and 20 All-Star Games, more than any other network TV announcer.

Outside of baseball, Buck has announced NFL games for Fox. He initially partnered with Tim Green but shifted focus back to baseball after three years. In 2002, he replaced Pat Summerall as Fox’s main play-by-play NFL announcer, joining Troy Aikman and Erin Andrews. Joe has also called several Super Bowls and hosted "Fox NFL Sunday."

In 2009, HBO Sports offered Buck his own show, "Joe Buck Live," which ended in 2010. In 2013, he briefly announced five minutes of an NHL game.

Salary and Contracts

Joe Buck was under contract with Fox earning $6 million annually for many years. In 2021, he signed a one-year extension with Fox, earning $11 million. In March 2022, he signed a six-year deal with ESPN worth $60 to $75 million, equating to $10 to $12.5 million annually.

Buck published his autobiography, "Lucky Bastard," in 2016. He has also appeared on various TV shows, including "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and "Jeopardy."

Real Estate

In 2020, Joe purchased a $4.5 million home in the St. Louis suburb of Ladue, setting a new record for the area. The 6,500-square-foot mansion has five bedrooms and is modeled after a historic mansion in Old Westbury, New York. Buck and his wife previously sold another home in the area for $3.7 million.

In 2021, Buck sold another residence in Ladue for $3.295 million. The home, bought in 2013 for $2.36 million, features six acres of land, 10,269 square feet of living space, six bedrooms, and an outdoor room with a stone fireplace. It's close to the exclusive Bogey Golf Club.
