James Jonah Cummings was born on November 3, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio. As a young adult, he left Ohio for New Orleans, diving into varied roles such as designing and painting Mardi Gras floats, working as a Louisiana riverboat deckhand, and performing as a singer and drummer for the band FUSION.
Personal Life
Jim later moved to Anaheim, California with his wife Stephanie, where he managed a video store before officially starting his voice acting career in late 1984. His first role was voicing Lionel on the program Dumbo's Circus. His tenure at Walt Disney Studios saw him provide voices for several lead characters in a series of shows and films, such as Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, DuckTales, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers, Aladdin, Gargoyles, Timon & Pumbaa, The Legend of Tarzan, House of Mouse, and many more.
Jim and Stephanie were married from 2001 to 2011, and they share two children. Jim also has two older children from a previous marriage. In May 2019, Stephanie accused Jim of animal abuse and rape, allegations that Jim has vehemently denied, attributing them to a contentious custody and divorce battle.
