Early Life

Jenson Alexander Lyons Button was born on January 19, 1980, in Frome, Somerset, England. He began kart racing at eight and quickly progressed to car racing, competing in the British Formula Ford Championship and the British Formula Three Championship.

Racing Career

Jenson Button began his Formula One career with Williams F1 in 2000. He moved to Benetton in 2001, which became Renault in 2002, and then switched to BAR in 2003. Button finished 3rd in the World Drivers' Championship in 2004 and won his first Grand Prix in Hungary during the 2006 season. His career highlight came in 2009 when he won the World Drivers' Championship at the Brazilian Grand Prix, securing the World Constructors' Championship for Brawn GP.

In 2010, Button joined McLaren, partnering with fellow British racer and former World Champion Lewis Hamilton. He finished fifth in 2010, was runner-up in 2011, and took his first pole with McLaren in Belgium in 2012. Button retired from Formula One after the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix with 15 wins and 50 podium finishes out of 306 races.
