Ivonne Coll is a Puerto Rican-born American actress, singer, and former beauty queen with a net worth of $5 million. She is celebrated for her role as Yolanda in The Godfather, Part II, portraying Mrs. Santos in Lean on Me, and starring in the TV series Jane the Virgin from 2014 to 2019.
Ivonne Coll Mendoza was born on June 18, 1947, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. An honor student, she graduated from Nuestra Señora del Pilar school before enrolling at the University of Puerto Rico, where she studied Social Sciences. Coll further honed her acting skills at the HB Studio and Lee Strasberg's Acting Studio in New York.
Ivonne began her career as a fashion model. In 1966, she represented Fajardo in the Miss Puerto Rico pageant, winning the title. The following year, she represented Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe pageant. She also served as a backup singer for Chucho Avellanet, a popular teen idol in Latin America during the '60s and '70s.
In 1971, Coll debuted as an actress in the Puerto Rican telenovela El Sirviente (The Servant). That same year, she made her solo singing debut at the Club Ocho Puertas in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In 1976, Ivonne relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she continued her artistic training in dance and singing at the Academy of Stage and Cinema Arts. She secured a part in the theater play Burning Beach and won an ACE Award for Best Actress for her role in Orinoco.
