What is Gregorio Perez Companc's Net Worth?

Gregorio Perez Companc, known as "Don Gregorio" or "Goyo", is Argentina's wealthiest man with a net worth of $1.5 billion. Born Jorge Gregorio Bazán in Buenos Aires in 1934, he was adopted by socialite Margarita Companc de Pérez Acuña in 1945, who enrolled him at the La Salle college preparatory school, which he left before graduating. In 1964, he married heiress Maria del Carmen "Munchi" Sundblad Beccar Varela, and four years later he was appointed director of Banco Río de La Plata, one of Argentina's largest private-sector banks, following its acquisition by his family.

Perez Companc made his fortune as the head of Petrolera Perez Companc, an oil and gas conglomerate founded by his adoptive father in 1946. Under his leadership, the company expanded its activities from 1990 to 1994, participating in Argentina's privatization program led by President Carlos Menem. By 1996, the company had generated sales of $1.41 billion.

In 1998, the Companc family formed a new public holding company, PC Holdings S.A., and purchased a 68% share in the local food giant Molinos Río de la Plata, which produces pasta, flour, and frozen vegetables. Gregorio retired in December 2009, leaving his stake in Molinos Río de la Plata to his seven children.

An avid collector of vintage cars, Perez reportedly spent over $9 million on a Ferrari.
