He attended the University of Oregon intending to study business but ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater in 1991.

Career

Post-graduation, Behrendt moved to San Francisco, joining an improvisational comedy troupe where he met Margaret Cho. During his early career, he performed with the improv troupe Crash and Burn, alongside notable comics like Patton Oswalt and David Cross, the latter being his roommate for several years.

Greg expanded his career nationally by booking spots on "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." His first stand-up special, "Greg Behrendt is Uncool," aired on Comedy Central in January 2006. That same year, he appeared on "Celebrity Poker Showdown," donating his winnings to a domestic violence charity.

In September 2006, "The Greg Behrendt Show" premiered but was canceled in early 2007. He also worked on "Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call" for ABC, which aired on SoapNet in 2009. Greg continued to perform, including a notable appearance at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2010.

Personal Life

Greg Behrendt is married to Amiira Ruotola, and they have two daughters, Mighty Luna and Bella True. A recovering alcoholic, Greg attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and enjoys playing guitar in his band, The Reigning Monarchs.

In 2015, Greg announced he was battling lymphoma, which went into remission later that year.
