Despite Kellyanne's high-profile position in the Trump administration, George emerged as a vocal critic of Trump in 2018. National Australia Bank before the US Supreme Court, winning the case.

Anti-Trump Activism
In early 2017, Conway was considered for the position of solicitor general in the Trump administration, but the role went to Noel Francisco. Later, Conway was reported to be a nominee for assistant attorney general in the Civil Division. However, he withdrew, criticizing the administration as a 'shit show in a dumpster fire.'
Conway soon became a prominent anti-Trump voice. In late 2018, he co-wrote a New York Times op-ed questioning the legality of Trump's appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general. Around the same time, he formed Checks and Balances, a group of conservative and libertarian lawyers speaking out against the Trump administration's wrongdoings.
In late 2019, Conway co-founded the Lincoln Project to oppose Trump's 2020 reelection and defeat Republicans loyal to Trump. The Lincoln Project endorsed Joe Biden and continued to campaign against Trump loyalists in 2023 and 2024. Conway's significant contribution included a $929,600 donation to the Biden Victory Fund.
Personal Life
In the late 1990s, Conway dated conservative media personality Laura Ingraham. He later married political consultant Kellyanne Fitzpatrick in 2001. The couple had four children and initially lived in Alpine, New Jersey, before moving to Washington, D.C. in 2017. They announced their divorce in 2023.
