What is Gary Cherone's Net Worth?

Gary Cherone is an American singer and songwriter known for his significant contributions to the rock music scene, with a net worth of $1.5 million. He is best recognized as the lead vocalist of the hard rock band Extreme. His musical journey also includes a notable stint as the lead singer of Van Halen in the late '90s. Post-Van Halen, Cherone formed rock bands Tribe of Judah and Hurtsmile, and released a solo EP, "Need I Say More," in 2005.

Early Music Career

In 1979, Cherone co-founded the hard rock band Adrenalin, later renamed The Dream. The band released an EP in 1981, marking the beginning of Cherone’s extensive music career.

Extreme

Gary Cherone, along with Paul Geary, Pat Badger, and the talented guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, formed the band Extreme in Boston in 1985. The band debuted with a self-titled album in 1989, but it was their second album "Extreme II: Pornograffitti" that catapulted them to fame. The album was certified 2x Platinum and included the iconic single "More Than Words," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 1992, Extreme released "III Sides to Every Story," reaching #10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The same year, they performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium. Despite the success, the band faced lineup changes and disbanded in 1996 after the release of their album "Waiting for the Punchline." They reunited in 2008 to release "Saudades de Rock," featuring new drummer Kevin Figueiredo, and continued with "Pornograffitti Live 25: Metal Meltdown" in 2016.

Van Halen

Post-Extreme, Gary Cherone joined Van Halen as their lead vocalist, replacing Sammy Hagar. The collaboration resulted in the 1998 album "Van Halen III," which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. The album showcased a different sound with longer, intricate songs, including the hit single "Without You." Despite a successful tour, the album did not match past commercial successes, and plans for a follow-up album were halted due to label disputes, leading to Cherone's departure from the band.

Other Music Projects

After leaving Van Halen, Cherone formed Tribe of Judah with former Extreme bandmates Pat Badger and Mike Mangini. They released the EP "East of Paradise" in 2001 and the album "Exit Elvis" in 2002 before disbanding in 2003. Cherone's solo endeavor, "Need I Say More," followed in 2005.

Gary Cherone also collaborates with his brother Markus in SlipKid, a tribute band to The Who, which performs locally around Boston. Additionally, Hurtsmile, consisting of Cherone, Markus, Dana Spellman, and Joe Pessia, debuted its self-titled album in 2011, followed by "Retro Grenade" in 2014.
