What is Eddie Bravo's Net Worth?

Eddie Bravo is a Mexican-American Jiu-Jitsu competitor, martial arts instructor, podcaster, musician, and comedian with a net worth of $2.5 million. Eddie earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003 and later founded the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu school and the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI) grappling competition.

Early Life

Edgar A. Cano was born on May 15, 1970, in Santa Ana, California, to Mexican parents. From an early age, Eddie had a deep interest in music, playing guitar and drums, and forming several bands aiming for musical stardom. In high school, Eddie played American football and joined the wrestling team.

In 1991, he moved to Hollywood and formed the band Blackened Kill Symphony. During this period, Eddie began taking karate classes after getting a gym membership. Inspired by Royce Gracie's UFC victory in 1994, Eddie decided to pursue Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado and also attended a Jeet Kune Do academy from 1996 to 1998.

Career

Bravo entirely focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, creating the Twister move upon earning his blue belt. In 1999, he received a purple belt and developed his signature guard, the Rubber Guard. Competing in the 2003 Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Submission Wrestling Championship, Eddie defeated Gustavo Dantas and then Royler Gracie, although he lost to Leo Vieira in the semi-finals.

Returning to the U.S., Bravo earned his black belt from Jean Jacques Machado and opened his 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu school in Los Angeles. In 2014, Bravo and Gracie had a highly anticipated grappling rematch, ending in a draw, and the same year saw the founding of the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI).

Eddie's no-gi Jiu-Jitsu style and unconventional move names, such as The Zombie and Crackhead Control, have faced criticism from traditionalists. However, his approach has led to success, accumulating 5 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw in major competitions.

Personal Life

Eddie Bravo welcomed a son in 2012 and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He is an advocate for marijuana, which he credits for some creative breakthroughs, like his invention of the Rubber Guard.

Bravo frequently appears on the Joe Rogan podcast and is known for his interest in conspiracy theories, including flat Earth and 9/11 controlled-demolition theories.

He is the author of several instructional books, including "Jiu Jitsu Unleashed" (2005), "Mastering the Rubber Guard" (2006), "Mastering the Twister" (2007), and "Advanced Rubber Guard" (2014), along with corresponding instructional DVDs. Eddie Bravo has made appearances in various MMA documentaries and films over the years.
