Bichir appeared on American television as Manolo Tavárez in the 2001 Showtime film 'In the Time of the Butterflies.' He returned to Showtime in 2008 to join 'Weeds' as Esteban Reyes, the mayor of Tijuana and Nancy's third husband. From 2013 to 2014, he starred as Detective Marco Ruiz on FX's 'The Bridge.'
