Early Career

After graduating from UCLA in 2000, Champion started her broadcasting career in West Virginia, where she managed multiple roles including filming her own reports. She then worked as a reporter for the Orange County Newschannel in Santa Ana, California, before joining WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2002.

Move to Atlanta

Champion moved to Atlanta to work as an anchor for WGCL-TV. In November 2007, she was fired for allegedly using profanity on air. She maintained it was a miscommunication, was later rehired, but left the station in March 2008.
