Born Bernard James Freeman on March 19, 1973, in Port Arthur, Texas, Bun B eventually became a prominent figure in the music world. His stage name, Bun B, is synonymous with UGK (UnderGround Kingz), a duo he formed with Pimp C. Although not a founding member, Bun B's collaboration with Pimp C marked the beginning of their ascent in hip-hop.

UGK's Rise to Fame

The duo debuted with the album Too Hard to Swallow, which included the notable extended play Banned due to explicit content. Their single Pocket Full of Stones was a breakthrough hit, receiving significant airplay nationwide. Following their debut, UGK's sophomore album Super Tight and third album Ridin' Dirty solidified their reputation, with Ridin' Dirty reaching #2 on the R&B Charts and #15 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1996.

Tragically, Pimp C passed away in early 2008, leading Bun B to continue his solo career.
