Early Life
Beth Chapman, born Alice Elizabeth Smith on October 29, 1967, in Denver, Colorado, was one of five children of Garry L. Smith, a salesperson for Brach's Candies. During her childhood, Beth trained as an ice skater and gymnast. In her early adulthood, she worked as an exotic dancer and a waitress.
Personal Life and Career
At 19, Beth met Duane "Dog" Chapman, beginning an on-and-off relationship. Beth eventually moved from Colorado to Honolulu to be with Dog, and they began working together in 1995, with Beth managing the bail bonds office. They married in 2006, marking Dog's fifth marriage. Beth became a licensed bail bondsman at 29, holding the record as the youngest in Colorado until her step-daughter Lyssa became licensed at 19. Beth served as the president of the Hawaii Bail Bonds Association and was a registered lobbyist. Her final series, "Dog's Most Wanted," focused on Dog's selective bounty hunting and her battle with terminal cancer. The show aired from September to November 2019.
Illness and Death
Beth was diagnosed with stage two throat cancer in September 2017. Though initially in remission, the cancer spread to her lungs. During the production of "Dog's Most Wanted," Beth collapsed and was hospitalized on June 22, 2019, in Honolulu. She was placed in a medically induced coma, and with no chance of recovery, her family decided to remove her from life support. Beth passed away on June 26, 2019, at age 52. The final episode of "Dog's Most Wanted" featured her memorial services in Colorado and Hawaii, and her ashes were scattered at sea.
