Start of Television Career
Bearse started her television career in 1982, portraying Amanda Cousins on the long-running soap opera 'All My Children' until 1983. In the same year, she appeared in the CBS television film 'First Affair.' After a brief hiatus, she returned to television in 1986 with a guest role on the ABC primetime soap opera 'Hotel.'

Married… with Children
Bearse's most notable television role was on the Fox sitcom 'Married… with Children' which premiered in 1987. She played Marcy Rhoades, the feminist neighbor of the Bundy family. Marcy was best friends with Peggy, played by Katey Sagal, and frequently clashed with Al, portrayed by Ed O'Neill. Initially married to banker Steve Rhoades, played by David Garrison, Marcy later tied the knot with Jefferson D'Arcy, played by Ted McGinley. 'Married… with Children' was a huge success, running for 11 seasons until 1997, making it one of the longest-running sitcoms in American television history. Bearse also directed around 30 episodes of the show.
Further Television Career
During and after 'Married… with Children,' Bearse appeared in several television films including 'Goddess of Love' (1988) and 'Here Come the Munsters' (1995). She also reprised her role as Marcy in the 1990 ABC special 'The Earth Day Special' and had a guest role in the Fox series 'Likely Suspects.'
Post 'Married… with Children,' Bearse focused on directing, working on shows such as 'Reba,' 'Malcolm & Eddie,' 'Dharma & Greg,' and 'Veronica's Closet.' She gained significant recognition in 1985 with roles in 'Fraternity Vacation' and the supernatural horror film 'Fright Night,' with the latter becoming a cult classic. In 1995, she appeared in Gregg Araki's black comedy thriller 'The Doom Generation.'
After a long hiatus, Bearse returned to film in 2020 with a role in the German sci-fi horror comedy 'Sky Sharks.' She also appeared in the 2022 gay rom-com 'Bros' and the 2023 comedy 'Tapawingo.'
