In February 2007, Allison won her first U.S. National Championship. However, her career faced a major setback in February 2009 during a 1500 meter race in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she collided with teammate Katherine Reutter, resulting in a multiple fracture of her leg. Despite this, she made a remarkable comeback for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Although disqualified in the heats for the 1000 meters and not making it past the semifinals in the 1500 meters, her team finished fourth in the 3000 meter relay.
